Concept & Inspiration

Developed in collaboration with Rudd Resources for their client Ventra, this limited-edition holiday card was designed to capture both the festive season and the spirit of Chicago transit. The concept places the city’s skyline inside a snow globe, with Santa pulling a decorated CTA train across the night sky and a bus below—merging iconic holiday imagery with familiar elements of Chicago life.

Process

Concept Development: Explored winter and holiday motifs that could be uniquely tied to Ventra and the CTA system.

Sketches & Drafts: Drafted layouts focusing on balance between festive whimsy and recognizable city landmarks.

Illustration & Refinement: Executed in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring clarity at card scale while incorporating fine details like decorations, snowfall, and holiday lettering.

Final Design

The final artwork blends festive cheer with local identity, turning everyday transit into a playful holiday scene. The snow globe format emphasizes nostalgia and celebration, while the inclusion of the Chicago skyline, CTA bus, and train creates a sense of familiarity and community connection for riders.
