Concept & Inspiration

As part of a student project, the task was to redesign Colectivo Coffee’s sleeves using a limited color palette. Each student created two designs that reflected the brand while drawing inspiration from coffee-growing regions. The inspiration for this redesign came from Mexico, where Colectivo sources some of its beans. The goal was to highlight cultural and geographical identity while staying consistent with Colectivo’s approachable, design-forward aesthetic.

Process

Research & Concept Development: Researched the region’s visual culture, landscape, and traditional motifs to inform the illustration direction.

Illustration: Designed bold, graphic illustrations with limited colors, emphasizing pattern and rhythm for maximum impact in small format.

Design Constraints: Worked within Colectivo’s brand framework while pushing the design to feel fresh, localized, and visually distinct.

Final Design

The final sleeves celebrate Colectivo’s connection to Mexico through vibrant yet simplified visuals. By combining cultural references with a restrained palette, the designs stand out in the everyday ritual of grabbing coffee while reinforcing the brand’s global sourcing story.
