The 500 Hidden Secrets of Paris — Book Cover Redesign
Concept & Inspiration
This student project reimagined the cover of The 500 Hidden Secrets of Paris by Marie Farman. The redesign plays on the theme of “secrets” by incorporating a collection of hand-illustrated keys and keyholes, referencing both the idea of unlocking hidden places and the charm of Parisian detail. A pink and red palette was chosen to create a fresh, eye-catching aesthetic that feels playful yet sophisticated.
Process
Concept Development: Explored ways to visually represent the idea of secrets while staying connected to Parisian culture and style.
Illustration: Hand-drew a variety of keys and keyholes in Procreate, creating a whimsical yet cohesive set of illustrations.
Design & Layout: Finalized in Adobe Illustrator, balancing the intricate illustrations with bold typography to ensure readability and hierarchy.
Final Design
The finished cover is lively and engaging, blending hand-crafted illustration with clear typographic structure. While not an official redesign, this student project demonstrates an ability to reinterpret existing titles through concept-driven design and illustration, creating a cover that is both memorable and thematically resonant.
Role: Designer & Illustrator — responsible for concept, illustration, and layout using Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.
