Concept & Inspiration

Developed during consultancy with Rudd Resources, whose client is Ventra, this limited-edition card was created to honor Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The design features a grid of illustrated cultural symbols representing diverse AAPIA traditions, celebrating the community’s vibrancy while remaining approachable and visually cohesive for everyday use.

Process

Concept Development: Explored ways to represent a broad range of AAPIA cultures within a single unified design.

Community Review: Multiple rounds of review were conducted with representatives of the AAPIA community to ensure authenticity and meaningful representation.

Illustration & Refinement: Final artwork created in Adobe Illustrator, focusing on bold colors, geometric balance, and clarity at card scale.

Final Design

The finished card highlights a series of symbolic icons—from dress and architecture to natural motifs—arranged in a bright, modular grid. This format allows for multiple cultures to be represented equally while maintaining a clean, functional aesthetic. The design successfully balances representation, inclusivity, and brand alignment, offering Ventra riders a celebratory piece that resonates across communities.
